I wouldn't make a bigger deal out of this than it deserves.

Far as I could tell, the networks decided to air only
reruns this summer. No wonder their ratings dropped. To
fix this problem, it takes no deep introspection. Just
offer the viewer something to watch! Rather than treading
water for four months! It's not hard for viewers to notice
lack of initiative.

On the other hand ...

If NBC's new show LAX is representative of this next
season, ouch!
