And I suspect that since 1080p24 probably compresses more efficiently than 1080i30, allowing for more HD programs in the same amount of bandwidth, that also played a role in this decision.

Whether average consumers will be able to truly appreciate the technical nuances of 1080p/24 delivery is open to debate, and Insalaco admitted that most viewers are focused more on HD quantity than quality.
