Thinks the networks really care about free OTA TV?

Most of the college football bowl games are now only available via cable; the
championship game moves to ESPN in 2015.

Now the Final Four is moving to cable in 2014…

From a TV Today newsletter:

Final Four Headed to TBS Two Years Early
CBS and Turner officially exercised an option in their 2010 agreement
to broadcast the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, which allows TBS to air
Final Four beginning in 2014, instead of 2016, as planned. Over the next two
years, CBS and TBS will share coverage of the Final Four, with TBS airing both
national semifinal games and CBS carrying the national championship game.
Why This Matters: The original agreement was for TBS to begin alternating Final
Four coverage in 2016, but there was always an option for that to be
accelerated by two years. The new plan to split the coverage between the two
networks will allow viewers to get used to the idea of seeing the Final Four on
cable, where many big-time sporting events have migrated to in recent years.
