I'm on the digest and it's been so many years since I posted that I've
forgotten how.

Anyway, yesterday I received a mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter from Amazon
and it works great with my Win8 Surface Pro. I was able to play HD both
from memory and streamed (interestingly, without the buffering I get using
Roku). Microsoft's version, which has been out of stock since the Surface
Pro came out, would fit a little more snugly but it's more than twice as
much.

Anything you can reach at a URL can quickly be made a tile, though at the
present time the tile just shows a text description, not the service's logo.

Subject: [opendtv] DTV on Windows 8

Just out of curiosity how many have used Windows 8 for DTV stuff? In tablet
mode? In PC/Laptop/Desktop mode? How about in living room mode, for
example driving a flat panel? Is it possible to configure the "tiles" for
channel selection (for example groups of your favorite channels kinda like
cable packages but with some sort of gestural input device (Win 8 touch
tablet and/or Kinect)? Do you need to pop over into Windows 7 mode and then
back to the Win 8 Start (tile) mode to do any of this, or maybe just use Win
7's desktop for system setup? I haven't tried any of this yet but thought
I'd get some thoughts and opinions before delving into it.
