Perhaps the ones to which you refer don't. Helissio Technologies was
demonstrating 1280 x 720 x 24p at 1 Mbps at NAB and 1280 x 720 x 60p at
1.6 Mbps, both using H.264 with extensive pre-processing.

The images were not artifact free, but the artifacts were of a nature
that might not bother most viewers. They were cetainly more pleasant
than the artifacts of Modulus Video's 1080i at 5.5 Mbps via H.264.

H.264 is pretty new. I look forward to the sorts of improvements we saw
in MPEG-2 over the years.

TTFN,
Mark
