Makes you wonder whose PSIP/metadata generator they will be using to
effectuate the updating. Makes you wonder how they have a mechanism when
the document is just a candidate spec.

I know the ATSC group headed by Mike Dolan did an awful lot of work on this
spec. I also know (Mike is a local call for me, at least when I'm el Norte)
that there are still a few kinks to be worked out in the CS. Beyond that, I
sayeth nothing since I'm bound by the ATSC NDA.

Most IP encapsulation delivery mechanisms stuff the IP packets into MPE
DSM-CC Sections at some point. So you're indirectly doing DSM-CC if you
like it or not. Or something along those lines. Anyhow, I'm curious to
read the document and see if it is anything beyond 'extended' DSM-CC
carousels.

I notice one company (Broadcast Data Corporation) purports to have a
nationwide firmware updating delivery mechanism using CS/97. But I also
notice their 'SDK' is in 'beta'. Hmmmmmmm...

Cheers
