I have a Fujifilm FinePix HS50EXR that I love. It has the equivalent of a 1000
mm optical lens on it and it is great for birding. It handles back lighting
really well and often when I try to identify a bird by site I can't but the
camera records it in good detail. It has both a rear LCD monitor and an
eye-level electronic viewfinder which I prefer in bright weather. For post
processing you can shoot in raw. The camera is smaller than a DSLR but a
little larger than a pocket camera. I have many cameras and this one is my
favorite simply because it is so fun.

Subject: [obol] your favorite camera for bird photography
Hi everyone, I’m going to upgrade my camera (currently a decent
point-and-shoot) to better photograph birds on the trip to Australia later this
year. Any recommendations?
Thanks!
