Thank you Lori for doing the dirty work of digging into the archives to see what the Moderator said! :-) You just made the Moderator's day.

To reiterate, none of the posters are hiding their address. Those posters who have the redacted email do so because of a system issue. Suffice to say it is a technical issue. So it helps to note a couple of things, one, as Lori suggested, and as Jeff learned this week, if you have one of these addresses (most people who get redacted probably are aware of the status) you can and maybe should include your email address on your signature. Two, if you see a post like this and do not know how to contact the poster, please do not hesitate to write a nice note to OBOL asking that person to contact you, I am sure they will likely oblige. I am unaware of any OBOLers who are purposely hiding their info, for whatever reason, so to my knowledge no one has any reason not be contactable.

Cheers

Alan is correct. The people whose email addresses are being hidden have no control over it. Dave Lauten posted about the issue last year. See OBOL archives:

Just a suggestion for those of you whose email addresses are being hidden, you could include your email under your signature in case people want to be able to contact you. See my signature below as an example.

I think the redacted/dmarc thing is added by the system, not by the sender.

I see postings like Don's (below) every now and then. The
Freelist.org <http://Freelist.org> site
hides the email address of senders so that it is impossible to reply
off-line to someone who posts to OBOL. Why?

The redacted sources are then passed on to the ABA's Birding News
website.

And I don’t get this DMARC-NOREPLY thing. What's that?

If you're going to contribute to a listserv like OBOL, why not be
open about
who you are? Why make it necessary to clutter the list with
messages meant
for one person, calling for them to get back to you, because you
don't want
your email out there?

Please note: I don’t blame Don Albright for his post. It's the
only way to
get the legitimate birding info he's seeking.
I'm not aiming to be negativfe toward any individual; I'm just
wondering why
we have the SYSTEM we have. It makes reaching individuals off-like
difficult and clutters the list.

On the other hand I have had experience with off-line messages
that weren't
courteous. That shouldn't happen either.

Sorry to clutter OBOL but I'm hoping to hear back from Joseph
Blowers. He
posted to OBOL yesterday but his email address was redacted from
the post.
Joseph, could you get in touch with me? I'm hoping to get
information on the

Tygh Valley CBC. The email address I have for you doesn't work.
