This morning on NPR we heard a piece on the wonderful author, Amy Tan. She
has produced a book on the birds in her backyard, and she illustrated it
herself. It's very aptly titled "The Backyard Bird Chronicles." She has
become obsessed with the beauty of the natural world surrounding her home
and has used her newfound joy to counter what she has seen as the negative
side of life over the past 8 years or so. The interview is available on the
NPR website and is delightful. Just another piece of evidence of the
healing nature of bird watching and appreciation. Cheers!
