After about 8:00 bird movements slowed considerably. Most notable birds were:

1 South Polar Skua (first I have ever seen from land; how often does this
happen?)

1 Franklin's Gull

6 or so Black-vented Shearwaters

9 Red Phalarope (seen first thing, so was expecting many today, but just one
group)

1 Northern Fulmar

2 Black-legged Kittiwakes (kids today)

1 Thayer's Gull

I will pull back on the Thick-billed Murre; just not certain. A persistent
challenge of seawatching is the transient nature of each event and the relative
difficulty of getting any photos for future review. Although it's entertaining
and thrilling at times, it's also quite frustrating!

Still pretty big movements of Heerman's Gulls and Brown Pelicans. Small
stringers of Cal Gulls later in the morning right along the beach.

Enjoy the weather!
Doug
