Friends of Malheur is a good organization. They fund things like the Auto Tour
Route, kiosks, trails, student interns etc. One upcoming project is a new
trail around some of the P-Ranch complex that is now inaccessible.
By the way, for those who have been focused on, er, other things, take a look
at the Steens snowpack readings. Huge and high water content. The Blues look
pretty good too. With luck we will see good lake levels this year.

I went to Malheur for the first time this last September after years of
wanting to visit. Even without enough water there, it was a great experience.
I met Tim and Merle, and had the wonderful experience of birding with both of

unconstitutional actions of these mostly non-Oregonians, I also plan to speak
with my wallet and make a small donation to Friends of Malheur, although I do
wish there was some more effective way that we could try to bridge the divide
between people who feel they love their country and people who feel they love
their country's biodiversity.
