I went to Malheur for the first time this last September after years of
wanting to visit. Even without enough water there, it was a great
experience. I met Tim and Merle, and had the wonderful experience of
birding with both of them, and their love of the place was contagious.
While we can condemn the unconstitutional actions of these mostly
non-Oregonians, I also plan to speak with my wallet and make a small
donation to Friends of Malheur, although I do wish there was some more
effective way that we could try to bridge the divide between people who
feel they love their country and people who feel they love their country's
biodiversity.
