Dear Craig and others,
I went to check out your sighting. I initially didn't find the
birds on my first passes through the area, but on my second trip along SW
Mountain Rd. just south of Homesteader Rd. I spotted the birds you saw just off
the road. They were at 26216 SW Mountain Rd. See

for the location. There is a lot of good habitat for Turkeys just to the east
and north of this house. I was able to get some photos without leaving my car.
I have uploaded 4 photos to my Dropbox account as below:

They didn't seem overly wary. I wonder if one of the homeowners in the area is
feeding them. I don't know if these Turkeys migrated into this area on their
own or if someone released them in the vicinity. Any comments on that topic
would be welcomed. It may be tough to determine for sure.
Sincerely,
Tim

The birds were still in the open when I left. I didn't have time to stick
around to see where they went, and the road there is narrow with few
opportunities to pull off the road. There are a lot of oaks in the woods in
that area as well as a lot of open farmland so the habitat is good.
