Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report

An offshore boat trip out of Newport September 15 photographed a GREAT
SHEARWATER and encountered a heavy movement of SABINE¹S GULLS. On September
13 a HUDSONIAN GODWIT was photographed at the South Jetty of the Columbia
River. A BLACKPOLL WARBLER was photographed September 13 in Willamette Park
in Corvallis. A LEAST FLYCATCHER and a TENNESSEE WARBLER were there
September 19. On September 15 a LECONTE¹S SPARROW was at the Wood River
Wetlands north of Klamath Falls. A NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was photographed
September 13 at Powell Butte in Crook County.
Heavy sparrow movements and mixed flock migrations were reported during the
week. The first migrant SANDHILL CRANES are on Sauvie Island September 14.
On September 18 a flock of COMMON TERNS were at the South Jetty of the
Siuslaw River and a BLACK-NECKED STILT was at the Siltcoos River mouth. The
three PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVERS were at South Beach State Park September 14. A
SABINE¹S GULL was at Yaquina Bay that day. The Yaquina Bay RUFF was seen
again September 19. On September 14 about 30 ELEGANT TERNS were at the
Hammond Boat Basin.
A juvenile LONG-TAILED JAEGER was photographed September 13 on Sauvie
Island. That day three AVOCETS were at Broughton Beach. On September 14 a
PARASITIC JAEGER was there and on September 17 a COMMON TERN was there. On
September 14 a FERRUGINOUS HAWK was near Baskett Slough NWR and a SWAINSON¹S
HAWK was over Eugene. A STILT SANDPIPER was at Finley NWR. September 14. An
AVOCET was there September 19. A SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER was reported
September 18 at Fern Ridge Reservoir.
On September 14 a SANDERLING was photographed at Haystack Reservoir south of
Madras.
