PINE SISKINS were feeding voraciously on Dense-flowered Willow-herb in our small backyard near the UO today. Every year about this time either siskins, or one of the two goldfinch species, lands on the stalks of these plants and eats seeds. Dense-flowered Willow-herb is a native species that blooms late with pink flowers. Leaving the stalks in place (being lazy instead of tidy) seems appreciated by the birds!
