Earlier this week I visited Philomath sewage ponds to see the Tricolored
Blackbird(s). Thanks to a visitor just ahead of me with a huge bag of
seed, birds swarmed in from the brambles and trees on the south side of the
ponds.
There were 3 or 4 males with scarlet & white epaulettes but I couldn't find
any females or immature males. I haven't seen an OBOL or ebird report of
anything other than males. Perhaps I overlooked basic plumaged Trikes and
I'm wondering if anyone else has identified anything other than males. It
seems odd to me that only males would be integrated into this flock.
