Hi -
I am not sure about Tri-colored Blackbird behavior, but in winter Red-winged
Blackbirds often are in single-sex flocks.

Earlier this week I visited Philomath sewage ponds to see the Tricolored
Blackbird(s). Thanks to a visitor just ahead of me with a huge bag of seed,
birds swarmed in from the brambles and trees on the south side of the ponds.
There were 3 or 4 males with scarlet & white epaulettes but I couldn't find any
females or immature males. I haven't seen an OBOL or ebird report of anything
other than males. Perhaps I overlooked basic plumaged Trikes and I'm wondering
if anyone else has identified anything other than males. It seems odd to me
that only males would be integrated into this flock.
Here are some photos labeled with my IDs.
