We have had an overwintering Osprey on Bradley Lake for two of our last CBCs
for Coquille Valley (Bandon to Coquille). The Osprey has been around here again
this year and may be the same overwinter bird.

I'm pretty sue Ospreys are recorded on the Coos Bay CBC every year.
I don't know when that began, but I think there are often multiple
individuals. I believe these are really overwintering birds. The Eugene CBC
recorded Osprey at least once in the early 70s, I would think it was a late
migrant. i once saw an Osprey at Fernhill Wetland in mid November. No one
else reported it so I'd assume it was actively wandering. I would expect the
changed level of Cottage Grove Lake to be significant for the Ospreys. The
fish can't help but move about under changed conditions. Lars
