I read the article, and it says,
"The group embarked Tuesday on what will be months of work before it reports to
the Legislature on how to get a growing community of wildlife viewers — like
bird watchers — and other groups that benefit from healthy wildlife populations
to front the money for conservation."
"Months of work before it reports to the legislature" means months of postings
on people's opinions about taxes and licenses, a political issue and not
directly related to bird sightings in Oregon.

I have no objection to people discussing this topic -- hopefully in a
constructive way -- on the Midvalley birding list, but in my view this
is a statewide issue, so a statewide discussion where regional
perspectives can be shared makes more sense.
As many folks know, I have some viewpoints on this, generally supportive
of the idea that birders should be contributing via some type of
identifiable revenue stream. But if anyone was hoping for a long-winded
posting, I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you ;-) ... too much else to
do. However I'll look forward to following the discussion on BOO.
