Some friends observed a single Turkey Vulture on a road-kill deer carcass on O'Brien Road (about 1/2 mile west of the Obrien/ Takilma Rd. Junction called "4 Corners") on Dec. 30, 2015. This is in the Illinois Valley, Josephine Co. I've never seen a TV here during early/ mid winter.

There's been some discussion as to whether TVs are "wintering" or "early migrants" when they show up this time of year. I wonder if this bird is a "short distance migrant"? --- as there are many wintering TVs in the Crescent City/ Fort Dick/ Smith River area of Del Norte County, CA. about 28 miles away from this sighting.
