Saturday, 11/21 Clay Crofton and I ran the ECAS Bend - Alfalfa Raptor Survey
under p. cloourdy skies, calm winds and temps between 28 - 45 degrees F.  It
turned out to have the 2nd highest count, 125, for the survey's history of 11+
years.  The highlight besides seeing lots of red-tails and Am. Kestrels was
Clay spotting an immature Red-shouldered Hawk.  Last year one was spotted for
two months in Alfalfa.  this Red-shoulder was seen on a power line in front of
a house at 22260 E. Nelson Rd east of the Bend Airport.  The location was 1/2
mile east of the Jct of Nelson and Gibson Air Rd.

Raptors counted:

Red-tail Hawk  86
American Kestrel  25
Northern Harrier  3
Golden Eagle  1
Rough-legged Hawk  7
Prairie Falcon  2
Red-shouldered Hawk  1
