I love how the 2013 Douglas County Pelagic pulled the county total up 8
species to move ahead of Harney County for fifth place with 385 (currently
387) vs. Harney's 381 (currently 382). DC! DC! DC! =)
There is a long gap between that and the 400+ counties of Lincoln (403),
Curry (405), Coos (410), and Lane (416).
Birders often talk about lack of coverage, and I lament it in my own
current home county of Douglas, but I am thoroughly impressed by Curry
County's total. I know there are several committed birders down there, but
if Curry had anywhere near the number of birders as Lane does hitting Fern
Ridge on a regular basis, or the eruption of birders to Malheur every
year... Who knows what new rarities could be found?
