It's been 500 days since I posted an update on obol of the county
checklists maintained by the East Cascades Audubon Society at
http://www.ecaudubon.org/#!county-checklists/c1s34. At least once per
year I try to let people know about this resource and give people an
opportunity to see what's going on with their county totals. I am fully
aware that there are only about 11 people who care about such things
but, I have little else to do. You can download a complete copy of
updates from the last 5 years at
https://app.box.com/s/stscjmtxobrjwymwhoavmiqq91qb9y6a.
Here's a summary of the county totals since my last post on 8/25/14:
(Caveat: Not all increases are the result of new species being seen in
the county. Some additions are the result of inclusions of prior
omitted species that were previously overlooked.)
* Perhaps the most impressive thing is that all but 3 of Oregon's 36
counties added species to their county lists.
* One county (LIncoln) actually lost some species due to a decision by
a peer review panel to take a more conservative view of the county
list and remove a net total of 5 species.
* Josephine, Klamath and Umatilla led all counties with a net gain of
5 species.
* Counties that added 4 species included: Coos, Tillamook, Linn,
Washington and Wheeler.
* As for rankings, Lincoln fell from 2nd to 4th, Klamath overtook
Multnomah for 9th place, Umatilla moved up one to 17th place and
Wasco leapfrogged over Jefferson and Malheur to grab 25th place.
