[obol] Clarification re: Umpqua BBS (Douglas County): 5 Grasshopper Sparrows but only 2 Vesper Sparrows

First a correction: It's "Coles Valley," not "Cole Valley."

The Crouch Rd. GRASSHOPPER SPARROW location is about 3 miles west of
Sutherlin on Fort McKay Rd. This seems like it would offer the best
chance of a view, of the three locations where I found Grasshopper
Sparrows singing this morning.

Crouch Rd. makes a short loop off of Fort McKay Rd., so there are two
intersections between these roads. The Grasshopper Sparrows were at the
intersection which is farther west.

Crouch Rd. is not labeled in the DeLorme Atlas (p. 35), but it's just
across Calapooya Creek from the old townsite of Stephens (about halfway
between Sutherlin and Umpqua).

The sparrows were singing back & forth persistently this morning at 5:55
AM, but with this warm weather they will most likely sing much less
frequently after 9 AM or so.

Good birding,
Joel
