If a Calliope or any other migrant hummer is observed in OR or WA in January,
it would be difficult to believe that it's a very early migrant. It's just way
too early. It's much more likely that it's an overwintering individual whose
internal GPS system is screwed up (don't know the scientific term for that) or
has some health issue that kept it from flying south late last summer.
