Is that late for large movements of Surf?
Not really. I have seen fall peaks as late as Thanksgiving
in the past.
I wonder if you had any sense of whether a lot of your
birds today were adult males.
Maybe Wayne can comment but I didn’t spend much
time today sampling for sex, more worried about numbers,
so don't have a great feel for ratio. My general impression
was the flight was majority adult male but female/immature
were not underrepresented - at least not enough to grab
my attention.
Exponentially smaller scale example of what you are asking
about, but the northbound Pintail today did appear to be
all adult male.
