I saw Roy Lowe's story about a Barred Owl eating a Barn Owl, which is
perfectly understandable. That is what Barred Owls do. Among other
things, they eat other owls
I worked for a few years at BLM with Wayne Logan who was working with Eric
Forsman at OSU on Spotted Owls. They knew the Barred Owl was headed our
way. In the 1980s BARD had not yet arrived from its range expansion around
the northern Rockies and down the west coast to us
They said that no matter what we do to preserve Spotted Owl (STOC) habitat
that if/when the Barred Owl gets here that will be the end of it for STOC
anyway
Now, sadly, there are a thousand or more of Barred Owls in Oregon
