All medication is collected by Admitting, either in the ED or in the
Admitting Office and made part of the patient's valuables, unless
someone is available to return them home (the patient approves). These
are not brought to the Pharmacy here at Bellevue.

Another question to ask is:
what do sites do with controlled substances brought in by patients who
leave them in the phcy after discharge?

What are NYS hospitals doing to comply with the DEA Final Rule on the
Disposal of Controlled Substances stating that the flushing of waste
narcotics down the drain does not meet the non-retrievable standard?
What drug disposal devices do you utilize for wasting of controlled
