I can remember when I first saw wild turkeys in Maryland. It was probably
in the mid to late 1970's up near where Georgia Ave and I 70 meet.  I never
saw any when growing up or going to college here in the more rural areas of
the state.  They seem to be everywhere now.  A bit like deer, growing in
population.

I hate to burst the bubble but I think this might be a turkey vulture,
something completely different. Several years ago I photographed this one
in our backyard. It was alone. The handful of times I've seen turkeys in
the wild (in New England) they travel in flocks.
