Here here Ilana. Sadly we have had to depend almost exclusively upon our
DC neighbors to bring more diverse housing options into our community and
increase access for people to be able to walk to the metro. I don't believe
Takoma Park has allowed any multi-unit housing to be built anywhere close
to the metro for many decades.

This is wonderful to hear. We need more homes affordable to more people
near the metro. I am also excited that they are preserving the Rhizome
building as part of the plan.
The systemic racism baked into our single family zones - whether we like
to see it or not - are still major barriers to inclusion and equity in our
region.
I highly recommend the book - The Color of Law - if anyone is interested
in this history and how it still affects us today.
