That makes sense. Nice that that the building will remain in Takoma DC. And
the development is wonderful (we do need more sustainable development in the
community). And, equally important, we are losing a nationally recognized art
organization as a result of the development. It would be great for them to be
able to stay in the community. If anyone has info on space that might be
available, they are actively looking.

The article mentioned that the building in question that is going to be moved
to a different part of the site is a contributing resource to the Takoma DC
historic district. Undoubtedly others on the list are more familiar with the
term, but I believe it generally means that it is old enough to fit the
historic district’s designation criteria. So, contributes to the
historic-ness of the historic district. However, I believe there are “higher”
levels, for lack of a better word, of contribution to the historic district
for more exceptional buildings.
So, the building that Rhizome currently rents contributes to the historic
district; no one is contributing it to anyone. Or, at least that’s my
understanding.
Again, if I’ve accidentally misrepresented what is a contributing resource,
my apologies, and I encourage corrections.
