Yes, Tappan Zee to sawmill is the best way to go. Get off 95 in NJ to get to
Tappan Zee. Avoid NYC completely.

take the Saw Mill River Parkway to I-84. Or to take the longer and less curvy
I-684 to I-84. Or to tay on 287 to 15 to I-91 to 84.
