EARTH DAY EVENTS at Historic Takoma - Sat April 23, 11 am-3 pm
While you're celebrating Earth Day at the Junction tomorrow, stop by Historic
Takoma (7318 Carroll Ave), to see the new window exhibit "Trees of Takoma."
Created by local artist Marty Ittner, the exhibit features tree and leaf images
as well as vintage photos of Takoma Park, offering a rare view of our rolling
hills before development. Between 11 am and 3 pm, Marty will give visitors a
chance to make their own photographs of leaves using the cyanotype technique
she used for the exhibit. Leaves are placed directly on photosensitive paper,
exposed to sunlight and then dried. A great Earth Day activity for the whole
family! Historic Takoma is pleased to present this lovely exhibit as a
complement to the new publication "Takoma Park Native Tree Selection Guide"
published by The Friends of Native Trees in Takoma, which will be on display in
the Co-op parking lot tomorrow.
"Trees of Takoma" remains on view at Historic Takoma through June 12th.
