[neuropt] Re: Reactive balance training equipment

Jennifer,

I actually have not done any research with our device specifically yet.
J.J. Mowder-Tinney has done some preliminary work with it and some protocol
development.  A recent article by Mcrum et al. does a nice job of
summarizing how to approach perturbation training and prescription/dosage
regardless of how it is applied.

I hope this helps.

Hi everyone,

The OP clinic where I treat has been approached by a donor who wants to
purchase assistive technology for our rehab team to use with our patients.
We've been discussing possible options related to reactive balance
training. I'm envisioning a slip/trip simulator or multi-directional
treadmill, but most of the options I've found online take up more space
than we have available. If we could find something with a smaller
footprint, we do have an in-ceiling harness system which would allow us to
place the equipment in an area where we could use the harness to keep
patients safe.

I have an image in my head of a small-ish platform (maybe 4 ft x 4 ft?)
I've seen used in research studies that can produce reactive stepping in
multiple directions, but I can't seem to find it online. Does anyone have
any suggestions for specific products?

Thank you for your help!

Teresa
