I was going to suggest olive oil Katy.....wow, this is frightening! Is there a
partial obstruction in his throat maybe? Or is he just not willing or able to
thoroughly chew his food before he swallows it? Are his teeth ok?

Syringe feeding pumpkin puree may help. My 94 year dad has this problem
sometimes and he needs to drink something thick like V8 juice which works every
time, so that is why I'm thinking smooth pumpkin puree may work.
Let me know if you try it and if it works. I'm glad Moo can breathe at least,
but still stressful.

the bunny Heimlich maneover to keep him breathing. It took about a week for the

heimlich movements but that doesn't seem to be helping. He is refusing food
understandably. He is able to swallow his saliva as I hear him doing this
regularly as if trying to shift it himself.
I gave him a run around the house hoping this would get things moving for him
somehow, but no. And I tried some gentle massages but no. I gave him his usual
metacam in case of inflammation in his throat, and water, but still no
movement. He could swallow the water ok.
Next step is some syringe feed to see if this will help, because it's gloopy
and slippery.
I looked up online what humans do in similar situations where they're able to
breathe, and it recommended bubbly drinks that erode the stuck piece of food
and create gas for burping the food out, so that's a definite no for bunnies!
Other than that the website said about something like butter as it's slippery.
I've heard of bunnies having olive oil before so perhaps a teaspoon of this is
an option? I'd try syringe food first I think. They also say banana as it's
slippery but I can't get him to eat.
I am also hoping that waiting it out will help, also recommended on the
website. As apple does go soggy and slippery when left, so maybe it will just
slip down after a little while longer.
I worry though if it has got stuck in his throat could it get stuck further
down? :(
Any other ideas anyone? Or experiences to share?
