I'm surprised that AppleWorks couldn't open a Word document. (take a look at AppleWork's help and see what they say about importing M$ Word documents... perhaps there's an "import" menu) (I'd be surprised to hear that AppleWorks couldn't open M$ Word format since Word is the de facto industry standard). If that doesn't work, you could always try downloading the German office suite from the web (URL posted some time ago)... can't remember the app's name though :( Try changing the extension on the document to .doc. Also, IIRC M$ may provide a Word document reader free for download from their site (though, I could be confusing this with their PowerPoint reader). Well, I found the website I was looking for: <http://www.ragtime-online.com/> RagTime is the suite I was thinking about (free d/l). BTW, according to a PDF I found :(<http://www.sbamug.com/archive/Apr_2002.pdf>) AppleWorks *can* open M$ Word files. It could be that the file this person sent you is corrupt or not in Word format. Check out the PDF... it has some suggestions worth noting. on 16/9/02 20:04, Susan N.
