When I try to save a Word document in the Word document file selection it always saves as a Wordpad document. The only way I can save a new document in Word is to save it as an RTF file. I have uninstalled MS Office and reinstalled it, but it still does the same thing. I have deleted WordPad program as I will never use it, but when restarting my computer I discovered it appears again in the program folder. Then when I run a file search for Word files the Wordpad files appear in that program also. This problem occured after consultation with a Del technician when I could not access a new cable Internet connection. He concluded that it was an operating system problem and I had to completely wipe everything off my hard drive. The tech then installed my Windows XP home edition by accessing my computer. I then reinstalled MS Office professional with Front Page from my disk. Before removing everything ,I had saved my documents on a CD disk and when I went to move them to my hard drive I found that some of them were in wordpad, which I had never saved them in initially. In running a check on the CD disk I discovered that there was something called "a bad block" . I am assuming (and I don't have any ideate the assumption is correct) that there was something in that transfer process that has caused this problem. Thanks for any help you can give me.
