Did you try "Detect and Repair" in Word's Help menu?

Since it's happening on all new AND old documents, I don't think it's
normal.dot since that wouldn't affect old docs, so it's gotta be something
messed up in Word itself, so I would *try* detect and repair...if that
doesn't fix it, I guess I would uninstall Word, then reinstall it...but I
don't know if that would fix it either...I'm just guessing...if it was only
on certain docs, the docs could be corrupt, and if it was only on new docs,
then it would be normal.dot that's messed up...but since it's ALL docs, old
and new, the only thing I can think of is Word itself is corrupt.

OR....you could check Word's startup folder and see if something is loading
on Startup that is causing the split (depending on your operating system,
the startup folder is located in different places)..if you don't know where
your startup folder is or how to remove stuff from there, read my Word
Troubleshooting page here:

And, I guess it *could* be a problem with your Data key in the
registry....that one can cause all kinds of problems..info on how to fix the
Data key is here..this article refers to Toolbar problems, but it's possible
the split window setting is also stored in the Data key, so this might fix
it:

Good luck.

No luck with advice on this. Someone on a Google group suggested a VBA etc.
But that's way out or ordinary WORD users.
