Can I jump in, so overall for such task, you have to make something
called absolute cell or worksheet so that the formula can refer to that
particualr area??
Sorry for such stupid question as I'm just starting to learn Excel in my
course here, I mean the formula like =3Dif and vlookup etc.
So I'm learning over here too.[

Yes Beth....you can open one workbook and put a formula in any cell that
says something like this

Lets say you have one file named Joe with a sheet named Sam

You have a second file named Bob and in this file you want to have the
information that is in the Joe file, the Sam sheet in cell A1 to be
automatically updated in the Bob file in cell B1

Go into the Bob file and enter this formula in B1:
=3D[Joe.xls]Sam!$A$1

An easy way to do this is to just open both files at the same time, then
click in cell B1 in Bob and type an equal sign....then go to the Window
menu and select Joe and click in cell A1 on the Sam sheet and hit the
enter key....this will bring you back to the Bob file with the formula
above already inserted.

I hope this is clear....you might want to actually make these sample
files I mentioned so you can see how this works.

Hope this explains it.

Hi Linda and group
       I am working on a budget using Excel for several different people
and=20
part of the information I am putting in is the same for all of the other

people. Is there a way I can link all these sheets together while
working on=20
them then insert the information in one sheet and have it entered=20
automatically into the other sheets at the same time, instead of going
from=20
one to the next? =20

Thank you in advance,=20
Beth
