Aha....well, the closest Outlook comes to this is AutoPreview....go to
the View Menu in your inbox and click on AutoPreview....this gives you a
few lines of each message so you can see if it's something you want to
open....and this is plain text and doesn't launch any scripts

Yes...Outlook's Preview Pane is similar to OE's in that it will launch
scripts within the mail....however, it doesn't auto-launch attachments
like OE is

        I may be wrong, but won't allowing preview pane allow scripts to
be executed? If not, no worry then. I used to just right click on an
email and pick properties, and was able to read a text version of it
without opening it in Express.
