You probably can (I *sometimes* take this vector) but it's always a poor
recommendation for fairly obvious reasons. In addition, preview copies
should also be uninstalled and replaced but for a slightly more insidious
reason. In recent years, early preview copies will be of a build number
that isn't supported by security patches and you find yourself in the
middle of a worldwide worm attack and unable to plug the security hole in
your installation.
