Well Linda its like all computer things If you understand how they work it's a simple thing to fix LOL! A master Document is a different ball of worms I guess. Here is the solution at this time. It cures all the problems at once also. I did not set it as a new style at each start of the chapters! I just let it come in and then set it like I wanted it! Well that won't work you must set a style at the beginning as when a master document reads the file it just uses what ever it sees at the top not how you changed it <G> So after I set them all up I got it running like it should!! And didn't lose to much sleep. Just some time which I have! Now what I need is to get the page number thing running so when I go back and insert something the pages change auto and not have to do it manually? There must be away to do this? I know how its done in just a document but again this master document is different I guess.? Thanks much for helping me AGAIN Gene Ok, Gene....I'm not real sure exactly what you are asking....(kinda hard when you are rummy...LOL)...but, here's three things that might get you pointed in the right direction.. If I'm understanding you correctly, if you want to find bold text and replace it with regular text, I explain how to do that here: http://www.personal-computer-tutor.com/findreplace.htm And I don't know why text would come into your document in bold in an "index"...are you sure you're not talking about a Table of Contents? If so, TOC's are built on Styles....so if some text is based on the Heading 2, style and that style is set to come into your TOC as bold, that's what will happen. Look at the style on the text that is not coming in bold and apply that style to the text that is coming in bold....or modify that style and remove the Bold from it. If your page numbers are restarting at 1 every so often, this means you must have Section Breaks. Go into the Header/Footer view of a page that is starting at 1 and look at the page number properties (accessible from the Header/Footer toolbar) and make sure it's set to "continue from previous section" If this is NOT what you are asking, try again when you've sobered up LOL Linda Publisher ~ ABC ~ All 'Bout Computers ************************************************************* You are receiving this mail because you subscribed to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx or MicrosoftOffice@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To send mail to the group, simply address it to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To Unsubscribe from this group, send an email to mso-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?Subject=unsubscribe Or, visit the group's homepage and use the dropdown menu.
