We are using Microsoft Word 2000 on a server running Windows 2000 Server operating system. All computers hooked to the server are either XP Home Edition or XP Professional. We have folders set up on the server as follows: ABC, DEF, GHI, etc. In these folders are files beginning with the appropriate letter. Our problem is. If someone in the office has a file open in one of the folders and someone else at another computer tries to access that folder on the server it takes a long, long time for the access to occur. Example: I have a file open named AppleJim, which is in the folder ABC. If someone else tries to save a file to the ABC folder it takes a long time (minute to 2 minutes) to open this folder. The reason is the temporary file that is created my Word. If we erase the temporary file we have no problem. This problem does not occur with any other programs we are using. This problem started about 6 months ago when we did an update of all our Office 2000 products. We have had no success in correcting this problem. Any suggestions?
