Yes, it does create a pst file. But not in your default directory (or at
least not in mine). I keep all data on a physically separate drive. =
Makes
back-up easy, and any re-formats of my main drive can be done without =
any
worries in respect of data.

Creating a new account, makes a file called OutlookHotmail-00000030.pst
presumably starting at 01 many months/years ago). It places it in
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook (I'm using WinMe).

Now I was trying to move this file to my D: drive, alongside my other =
five
.pst files, when I caused the problem.

I don't particularly like Hotmail, but it is useful for using in on-line
scenarios sometimes.

Ok..I've never used Outlook for web mail like hotmail, since I have no =
need
to...but I'm curious...are you saying that just by creating a web mail
account, it adds a folder to your folder list? Why is this? Is it =
actually
an additional pst file? If so, can you right click on it and choose to
"close" it? If you can, do that...then exit Outlook and find that pst =
file
and delete it in Windows...then it should be gone.

I never knew creating a hotmail account in Outlook created a folder in =
your
folder list...that's weird...unless it DOES create a whole new pst file. =

I've managed to mess up my Outlook settings somehow.

In addition to my main accounts, I have a Hotmail account. Somehow, I =
have
lost the ability to access it.

When I click on Hotmail in the Folder List, I get the message below. =
"Unable
to display the folder. Microsoft Outlook could not access the specified
folder location. The .DLL file for the information service could not be
found. MAPI was unable to load the information service pstprx.dll. Be =
sure
the service is correctly installed and configured." If I right click, I =
get
the same message. If I delete the account (Tools, E-mail Accounts) it =
does
not delete the account in the folder list. If I then add Hotmail again, =
I
get a second Hotmail entry in the Folder List (which works correctly). =
All
my other accounts work fine. I've tried a Detect & Repair with no =
success.
Anyone got any suggestion please.

Thanks
Colin
