That's ok...actually in Access they ARE different. There...macros are
sets of commands and VBA is the code written in modules.

But in all the other apps, recording a macro simply records the codes
that you would write using VBA code anyway, more or less (although it
can be written more efficiently in raw code than recording in most
cases) and it all ends up in modules (or user form or class modules).

The word "macro" has actually evolved from just meaning a recording of
keystrokes. Word's original language for macros was WordBasic, which is
a GUI based set of commands, whereas VBA is a subset of VisualBasic, an
Object Oriented programming language.

Access, as Greg's pointed out<vbg>, is a database program and those just
hate to follow the crowd! ;-)

And also as Greg likes to do...I'll give you more info than you probably
wanted to know.<g> You can kinda think of a GUI language versus an
Object language by thinking of formatting a sentence in Word.

A GUI language would say something like: "Cursor, count down to this
sentence, then go to the beginning of the line, then turn on select and
move to the end to select the line, then go to the font dialog in the
background and set this font and that color and those other attributes,
now release the font dialog box and stop selecting the sentence."

An object language would say: "Yo...YOU, sentence number 4, paragraph 3,
go Arial, color blue, italic, and indent to .5...NOW!"

<whispering> ok! :-) You say tomato....:-)

Actually I didn't realize that they were the same. For some reason I
pictured them differently.

Thanks!
