>>NAV has a setting where you can tell it to check ALL Office files, not just Outlook...so, I assume it's looking for macros and stuff in VBA....but Dian and Greg may know more about this than me. Well...one of the first things MVPs tell folks to do is turn OFF the Norton Office AntiVirus Plug in. It's doesn't really provide any more detection than the Office anti virus utilities do...and it causes lots of conflicts. Particularly with Acrobat and WinFax addins. Folks end up getting VB DLL errors when closing Word/Excel and sometime Outlook. Although updated dot for those, from the manufacturer, will fix the problems. Personally, I don't worry too much about viruses, for a few reasons. I never open a doc from someone I don't know...without holding down the shift key to stop any auto macros (viruses) from running and the first thing I do is then inspect for modules. I use mailwasher, so it catches 90% of the viruses being sent around and they get removed from my server before they're ever downloaded to me. And I don't allow scripts to run in my email unless I'm 90% sure I know what it is or DO know who it's from. I keep up with antivirus warnings from legit companies, so I'm pretty familiar with most of the common ones and I use Outlook and don't use Preview. So the few suspicious emails that might get through either get deleted or I send that person an email letting them know I'm not going to open their email because they didn't provide an details about it. Oh, and I also don't allow family and friends to send me all that crap that gets circulated. I may miss out on a few giggles...but they know I don't have time for power point presentation attachments with baby pictures telling me they love me! If they wanna tell me, spare me the forwarded crap and write me an email! ;-) That may sound heartless, but they understand...my computer is my life, not a toy like it still is for most of them.
