>You know, using Access as a backend for other applications and attaching through ADO, you still have to know the Object Model to use it effectively. You probably could do more in Access than you think. Actually, that's not quite correct...cos' I use the ADO object model, not from Access. ADO is a wrapper and there's a lot less to know, so it's a breeze! ;-) Dian D. I don't think I will ever get to like >working with Access, never mind enjoy using it. Just give me Excel any day. It just depends on what you do. I use Access a lot. But not as most folks do...I use it as a backend to custom Word apps...just as a data store to capture through code. I only occasionally use it as a front end DB. I'm a wordsmith, so I use Word all the time. I used to use PPT, but haven't had to create presentations in a long time...however, now that I'll be doing more training...I may have use for it. But...being in the financial industry for so long before...Excel was what EVERYONE used. So I rarely needed to use it myself. I've just rarely been in a position where I needed Excel...or any capabilities that used Excel. If I needed a graph/chart...I'd use PPT. If I needed tables, calculations...I'd use Word. And if I needed data, I'd use Access. And I can make each of those do whatever I needed.<shrug> Dian D. You might want to bookmark this page, which has helped me a thousand times or more. http://www.mrexcel.com/articles.shtml It's a portal to articles on several sites, some just a few lines, some a few pages, but all of them straight to the point. I'm building an Access application at the moment at the same time as an Excel application. Around once a week, I think, "I wish Excel could do [whatever] like Access does." I have the same thought the other way round about 10 times every HOUR! I know you're going to love Excel. It can do anything.
