I hear ya, Anne, and I'm in agreement with most of what you say (especially
the part about it being sad that we are here discussing this on our weekends
LOL)

Personally, web design has never been my "thing". I use FrontPage to
maintain my own website, which is mostly NOT for profit....yes, I do sell a
few products there, but that's basically just to cover the cost of having
the site....most of what's on my site is there for free...I've never really
tried to increase it's SEO rankings becuz I'm just not that concerned about
it....but, the bottom line is, if a site includes good info the rankings
will come. My site gets about 22,000 page views a day and has a Google rank
of 5....I go to the sites that boast SEO techniques and I see their ranking
is no better than mine....FrontPage has always been my tool.....I completely
LOVE FrontPage. I have never had a need for more and I doubt I ever will.
I'm already planning to stick with FrontPage 2003, even if I do decide to
get the other Office programs in the 2007 bundle....I don't see any need for
me to upgrade FrontPage to any other tool. At the college where I teach,
the Dean keeps asking me to teach Dreamweaver and I keep telling him "no
way"...I am NOT a web designer and I have no desire to teach that stuff.
But, I guess, becuz I have a website that is more successful than anyone
else associated with the college, he assumes I'm into this...but I'm not.

Here in the states, it is possible to buy each of the Office programs
individually....is that not the case in the UK? But, bottom line is, here
in the states, if you are going to use more than two of the programs, it's
cheaper to buy the whole suite, so that's what I usually do.

Since I'm on the beta team for Office 2007, I'm not allowed to say too much
about the programs....so, you can just deduce what I think of them by what I
DON'T say. So far, all I can say is "they're pretty".

As far as I'm concerned, I could live without Office....I could be perfectly
happy replacing Word with another word processor....I'd have no problem
using a different database program instead of Access.....I could even
probably be tempted away from Outlook (tho I do like Outlook 2003 very
much)....but, the only two Office programs I would NOT want to give up are
Excel and FrontPage....I just looooove these two programs and I'll continue
to use them forever, no matter what Microsoft dictates.
