What are "LastName" and "FirstName"? Are they still present when you reopen
the workbook....the #Name? error means it isn't recognizing those
names....since I have no clue how this data is laid out, I'm not sure how to
answer this...can you create range names for LastName and FirstName? If
they are range names, Excel will recognize them and your formula will
work...if, however, they are field names or something that are no longer
present when you reopen Excel, that is why you are getting the error.

Subject: [mso] Excel Linked Data

Hi All.
I have an Excel query linked to a database.

In the Query, I have 3 columns that concatenate the contents of other
columns. For example, I have columns LastName and FirstName in Columns B
and C
In Column A is a formula that looks like this =
LEFT(LastName,3)&LEFT(FirstName).

While I'm working in the workbook, all is well. When I save and close
then reopen the worksheet, the cells with the concatenation formula
looks like this #NAME?

What can I do to maintain the integrity of my formula?

Advice and suggestions appreciated. /g
