Hi. Our company had a problem this morning which we also had about a month = ago. It seems that messages outgoing to the Internet were not going out = this morning. (Slow at first - some got through a few at a time. Then = they stopped altogether.). [This is Exchange 2000 - single server] The last time this happened, stopping and re-starting the SMTP service = did not help. I even stopped and restarted the information store. = Eventually I ended up restarting the machine, so that is what I did = today. I do want to find out what went wrong, but my real question to the group = is: How can I set up Exchange (or another monitor) to notify me when the = SMTP queue has gotten above 50 queues? Or, alternately, how can Exchange = notify me when the number of queues that is "retry"ing is above about 20 = queues? By the time I fixed the problem, the SMTP queues read this way: 93 = queues retrying, 5 ready, and 3 active. After the restart, everything was fine.
